Internet browsers and social media networks will soon be integrated thanks to Facebook and the RockMelt Beta 3 internet browser.

The RockMelt internet browser, which was launched via private beta six months ago, is rightfully classified as a social media browser. Basically, social media profiles of a user are integrated with the RockMelt browser to provide a seamless online experience.

For the release of RockMelt’s latest version, Beta 3, the development team has partnered with Facebook’s engineering and web design teams. The partnership will be long term, as RockMelt and Facebook plan to completely revolutionize the internet browsing experience.

Several different rumors have mentioned the Facebook developers working on a native browser that would also integrate the famous social network, but that’s likely not to happen as it would take quite a bit of work and manpower to accomplish. Instead it looks as though Facebook has partnered with RockMelt as an alternative, allowing the browser to be developed by an outside party associated with their company.

RockMelt Beta 3 Internet Browser- The Latest Version

The new RockMelt Beta 3 internet browser version includes an extensive list of features and additions that can all be reviewed in the developer’s official blog post.

Welcome to RockMelt Beta 3

The Friend Edge IM system and the entire RockMelt browser is now completely “unified”, which means that for all intents and purposes the RockMelt browser is directly integrated with Facebook and all notifications, messages, requests, and friend lists are treated as one. If a user receives a friend request, message or other request the notification will appear through the RockMelt browser and will not be duplicated through both platforms.

This ultimately means no more dealing with extra notifications.

Originally the RockMelt browser would notify users when something interesting happened on their Facebook profile, and they would have to acknowledge both the RockMelt notifications and the Facebook notifications separately.

The biggest feature that received an overhaul is the RockMelt Friend Edge, which is an instant message type chatting system. Friend Edge now allows users to scroll through relevant notifications and messages, change their visible status (online/offline), hide offline friends from displaying, and add friends to a “favorite” list. Of course there are additional features which have been included in the new update; for those interested in more information, they can find all the update changes outlined in the aforementioned RockMelt blog.

The RockMelt Beta 3 internet browser also allows integration with Twitter, several news and information sites and pretty much anything with an RSS subscription feed. Just like other popular browsers (Chrome, Firefox) RockMelt allows users to install external applications or extensions which enhance the internet browsing experience.

The browser also completely integrates RSS feeds and subscriptions within a separate portion of the window. So there’s absolutely no need to have an external feed reading program if using RockMelt.

RockMelt Beta 3 Social Media Share OptionThe RockMelt Beta 3 internet browser also includes options to share links, web-pages and media directly via the browser window. Users, when logged into a social media profile, can also update status messages and reply to chats, private messages and public posts all via a unique browser window menu.

RockMelt Beta 3 Quiet Mode ButtonIf the user wants to go off the radar and turn off all notifications there is a unique “quiet mode” button located directly in the navigation menu (pictured on the right). This unique mode allows the user to simply appear offline to IM applications, social media networks and turn off all related notifications with the simple press of a button.

The RockMelt Beta 3 internet browser actually uses the Google Chromium open source code, which should make all avid Chrome users feel at home. That does not mean the RockMelt browser functions exactly like Chrome however, they should be considered two separate entities.

Because the RockMelt browser uses the Google Chromium source code, all bookmarks, favorite web pages and user data can be integrated into the new browser. So Google Chrome users won’t lose anything when making the switch!

But wait, are you afraid you’re going to lose your favorite Google Chrome applications and extensions when making the switch? Well fear not, because the RockMelt Beta 3 internet browser works perfectly with all Google Chrome Web Store extensions and applications, thanks to the Chromium source code.
