Claude

Free plan

An AI assistant for drafting, analysing material and working through multi-step tasks.

Good fit for Drafting and document-focused work

Facts checked November 5, 2026

The Tech Labs verdict

Claude is a useful candidate for work that starts with text or documents: shaping an outline, comparing material, explaining a difficult passage or producing a first draft. Its output should be treated as work to review, not as a verified source.

A good trial uses your own representative task. Give the assistant the relevant material, state the intended audience, and specify what a successful result must include. Check whether it follows those constraints and whether its factual statements are supported. A fluent answer can still omit a qualification or invent a detail.

The free plan provides a way to evaluate the workflow, with usage limits. Paid subscriptions and API use have different terms, so budget for the interface you intend to use. For confidential work, review the applicable privacy and retention settings before uploading files. This is a documentation-based assessment rather than a benchmark against other AI models.
