Good fit for Assisted development in an existing workflow

The Tech Labs verdict
GitHub Copilot is worth evaluating if you already have a development workflow and want help with routine implementation, explanations or proposed changes. The important condition is that a developer remains responsible for understanding the result.
Give it a bounded task in a project with a working test suite. Inspect the diff for unexpected files, dependency changes and missing error handling. Run the relevant tests yourself and check security-sensitive logic separately. A passing test suite only checks the cases it contains.
Plan allowances, model access and agent features can change, so compare the current plans against your intended workload. Avoid judging value from a single impressive demonstration. This assessment describes a practical evaluation method and the documented product positioning; it does not claim that generated code is inherently correct or secure.
Choose it if
- You can review code and run meaningful tests.
- You want assistance inside an existing development process.
Skip it if
- You cannot evaluate the code or its security implications.

Before you choose
Can I merge generated code without reviewing it?
No. Review the changes, run suitable tests and check dependencies and sensitive logic.
Which plan should I choose?
Start from your actual usage and required features, then compare current allowances. Do not assume every feature is unlimited.
Does passing tests prove the code is safe?
No. Tests cover specified cases. Review authentication, data handling and other sensitive behaviour separately.
