Write a Tutorial
Want to submit a tutorial to The Tech Labs? We’ll pay US$100 p/tutorial published, and you’ll get to help your fellow web developers and designers!
What to Write About?
We are looking for extensive tutorials on these subjects:
- Adobe Flash
- Adobe Flex
- Adobe Air
- Actionscript 3
We prefer more complete, practical and extensive tutorials. For example a tutorial demonstrating How To Create a Video Player with Playlist would be preferred to a simple demonstration on how to retrieve data from a XML file. Having said that if the final result is really great, or important, or useful then we’d be interested!
You must also fulfil the following criteria:
- You must send in your ALREADY WRITTEN tutorial. Please note not every tutorial will be accepted.
- Your tutorial must be your original work and not published elsewhere.
- You consent to the tutorial appearing exclusively on Flash Enabled Blog or The Tech Labs;
- You must have a PayPal account for us to pay you, this fee will be paid on the 1st week of every month.
- You will need to format your tutorial as per the format described below.
- Your tutorial may be edited prior to publishing.
- All tutorials must have as attachment, the source files and other relevant files used in the tutorial.
How to Format your Tutorial
Tutorials should be formatted in a series of steps. Each step should have either an image or code snippet involved. If you are using code snippets, do the following:
- Wrap the code snippet in <pre></pre> tags
- Ensure that any images you use are less than 540px wide.
Downloadable & Preview Files
Most tutorials will have a set of files to demonstrate the effect. Place these files in a folder inside your zip. If the files are like a Flex or Flash Project, try to make sure everything is neatly organised and has a read me file.
Please note, not all tutorials will be accepted.
We only accept tutorials that match the site’s standards of both writing and tutorial content. If your tutorial is accepted, payment of US$100 will be made within the 1s week of each month after your tutorial has been posted on The Tech Labs. Please note that if we gain evidence in this time that the tutorial or source images used in the tutorial have been plagiarized we will take the tutorial off the site and payment will not be made.
